Kin is about sharing stories based on real people who have moved us,
but whose stories go untold.
Human connections begin at childhood. Perhaps they are even most powerful at childhood - when children see mirrors of each other, when they help each other up in the sandpit, when they teach each other new songs, when they hold hands and help each other grow.
Kin Collective series nurture empathy among our young ones.
When caregivers and children share a Kin story, we bring the world together in the span of that tale. Through a deeper appreciation of each other’s struggles, curious children grow into caring and compassionate change-makers.
This series is inspired by the stories of three children that we met in Ethiopia, the Philippines and in Singapore. While they are in no way reflective of the circumstances of all children in these countries, or the conditions of all who live in those countries, we draw inspiration from their courage and zest for life.
During a time of war, two best friends - Sara and Hana - find themselves separated by a fence. Despite the distance and danger, Sara and Hana choose to hold on to their steadfast friendship. In the darkest times, the power of trust, love and three simple wishes light their way.
*This story hopes to advocate for peace and the protection of children caught in conflict by serving as a reminder of our innate ability to hold on to common humanity.
